Bright Promises Foundation is celebrating our 150th year of service by elevating the voices of the people who matter most to us – young people themselves.
Join us for the 150th Anniversary Awards, where Bright Promises Foundation will amplify the voices of youth leaders from across Metropolitan Chicago through youth performances and interactive displays, and invest in the continued development of young people who are working actively to improve their communities with the presentation of five $10,000 Elevating Youth Voices grants.
We will also honor philanthropic icon and lifelong advocate for children Judith S. Block, American Indian leader Dr. Dorene P. Wiese, and outstanding volunteers Peggy and Paul Bodine.
100% of your donation goes directly to support Chicago youth leaders through the Elevating Youth Voices initiative.
Champion for Children Award - Judith S. Block
Judy Block's life work has been dedicated to all of Chicago’s children. She has served over 50 years in the city’s great cultural and education institutions as well as foundations and human services. Judy has been a leader in many child-centered organizations as well as personally serving as a court appointed special advocate. This year, Judy celebrates 50 years on the Board of the Chicago Child Care Society.
Lifetime Achievement Award - Dr. Dorene Wiese
Dr. Wiese has spent 50 years advocating for children, and has dedicated her life to helping American Indian families in Chicago get the education they need to survive in today's world. She founded and serves as the President of the American Indian Association of Illinois, the largest provider of tutoring, college prep, and traditional cultural dance programs for American Indian children in Chicago.
President's Award - Paul and Peggy Bodine
Paul and Peggy Bodine have been a part of the Bright Promises family for decades. Paul served as the Board President during the transformation of the Illinois Humane Society to Bright Promises Foundation and was integral in the development of our current innovative grant-making model. Paul and Peggy are both founding members of the Bright Promises Legacy Council and have served as key volunteer leaders for the 150th anniversary.
In addition to the awards presentation, guests will hear directly from the winners of the Elevating Youth Voices grants, who will share how they will use the $10,000 grant to make their communities stronger and safer.
