Development Coordinator Position Open

Bright Promises is adding a new role of Development Coordinator to our team!

The Development Coordinator will play a central role in capturing and telling the stories of our grantee partners and in activating donors to support Bright Promises child-serving initiatives. We are looking for someone who brings creativity, a passion for equity, and excellent written, organizational, and project management skills. This is a part-time role with opportunities for growth. Position Description:

Title: Development Coordinator
Reports to: Senior Director of Advancement
Status: Part-time (10-15 hours per week) contract
Compensation:$20-$25/per hour, depending on education and experience


Description of Role & Opportunity


Bright Promises Foundation is a public foundation based in Chicago, IL focused on early identification and response to the urgent, underrecognized needs of children and youth. Bright Promises partners with 20+ community organizations across Metropolitan Chicago to support the creation and expansion of programs that improve the lives and futures of 10,000 young people each year. Through the capture and dissemination of knowledge gained through our partnerships and grantmaking initiatives, Bright Promises is committed to amplifying the reach and impact of its work so that more children and youth benefit.  

The role of the Development Coordinator will be to organize and execute fundraising and communication efforts of Bright Promises Foundation. They will perform duties related to appeals, multi-channel marketing, event planning, and donor relationship management while gaining firsthand experience in increasing the capacity of a growing non-profit organization.

Additionally, the Development Coordinator will be involved with donor stewardship activities, including cultivating an institutional Culture of Philanthropy that places the development of sustainable relationships at the center of the organization’s efforts among the staff, Board, volunteers, and community of donors.

This role is entry level and will serve as the catalyst for a successful career in non-profit fundraising and management for the right candidate.


Essential Functions:

  • Assist with the creation and implementation of the Development Plan that incorporates a range of strategies including donor cultivation, grants, corporate and individual appeals, digital marketing, and special events.
  • Support Fundraising and Marketing committee, including distributing agenda s, attending monthly meetings, capturing notes and action items, and sending meeting recaps.
  • Record donations on an ongoing basis in the donor database. Design and run reports and assist with database maintenance.
  • Generate and send acknowledgments and thank you letters.
  • Assist with the production and implementation of annual campaigns and other fundraising communications.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of 1-2 donor cultivation events per year and the Foundation’s annual fall fundraiser.
  • Help manage editorial calendar, create social media content, and increase engagement on social channels
  • Create and manage content for website, blog, and newsletters.
  • Recruit volunteers and support volunteer relationships.
  • Attend occasional networking events with the Senior Director of Advancement to increase professional network, refine relationship management skills, and enhance Bright Promises outreach and capacity.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a passion for storytelling.
  • Project management skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and follow through with minimal direction.
  • Flexibility in varied job assignments.
  • Willingness to pitch in when/where needed.
  • Proactive problem solving.
  • Interest and desire to learn how to become an impactful nonprofit professional.
  • An understanding of and belief in the mission of Bright Promises Foundation.
  • Knowledge and experience with data entry systems and reporting. 
  • Knowledge of social media tools: Buffer, Meta Business, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn.
  • Knowledge of website management.
  • Proficient in the use of various Microsoft365 programs, including MS Office, Outlook, SharePoint, and OneDrive, and ability to use various databases. Experience with Panorama FrontStream and MailChimp a plus.

Work Environment:

This role is primarily remote, with occasional in-person meetings and events. This is a part-time position (approximately 10-15 hoursper week, flexible schedule); evening work is occasionally required.


Compensation:


This position is offered on a contracted services basis. If successful, the position can evolve into an ongoing staff role. Compensation is offered in the $20-$25 an hour range based on experience and other related factors. There are no benefits offered as this is a contracted position initially.
